Tireni Adeniji (b. 2004, London) is a painter and multidisciplinary artist of Nigerian heritage whose practice is rooted in explorations of heritage, identity, and liberation. Her work navigates the intersections of culture and selfhood, using visual language to reflect on the experience of moving through the world as a young Black woman.
Portraiture lies at the heart of Tireni’s practice, where she combines technical precision with layered meaning. Her surrealist-inflected portraits carry both intimacy and universality, drawing from lived experience while opening space for broader cultural and philosophical conversations. By centering themes of race, gender, and identity, her art becomes a site of dialogue that is both deeply personal and critically political, challenging dominant frameworks of representation.
Evolving with ambition and purpose, Tireni continues to refine her artistic voice. Celebrated for her ability to weave the personal with the political, she creates work that not only captures the essence of her subjects but also confronts wider societal dynamics, offering audiences new ways to see, feel, and reflect.
